Memorial Day Celebrated this year on May 28 but the CMCVAMC will recognize Memorial Day on Thursday, May 24.

Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades.

Join Americans everywhere for the Memorial Day National Moment of Remembrance, legislated by Congress and proclaimed by the President, Monday at 3 o’clock. Join fellow Americans in pausing for one minute, wherever you may be, in an act of unity and gratitude for those who have given their lives in service to our nation. It is a moment to share and remember.
