Interim, Chief of Staff

Dr. Enrique Guttin is a 1982 board certified graduate of Thomas Jefferson University Surgery program. For 28 years, he practiced General, Trauma, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery in several locations; Mexico, Philadelphia and Albany, NY. He completed a Masters of Medical Management (MBA equivalent) from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in 2002. He has been involved in Education, as Associate Professor of Surgery at the National University of Mexico, Assistant Professor of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, and Associate Professor of Surgery at Albany Medical College in NY. Dr. Guttin has held the positions of Quality Manager and Resident Education Program Director for Thomas Jefferson University, Methodist Hospital Division and Chief of Surgery at Saint Agnes Medical Center. He joined the VA as Chief Surgeon at Albany VA Medical Center in Upstate New York, later becoming Care Line Manager overseeing acute care services including Medicine, Surgery and Primary Care. He assisted for a short period in recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina as Acting Chief of Staff at the Gulf Coast VA Medical Care System based in Biloxi, MS. In January 2009, Dr. Guttin was named Chief of Staff at the Wilmington VA Medical Center and also served as Acting Medical Center Director at the Wilmington VAMC. He transferred to the Crescenz VAMC in February 2014, serving as Associate Chief of Staff for Care Coordination with clinical duties in the GI department performing endoscopic procedures.
