Advanced Fellowship Program in Mental Health Research and Treatment (“MIRECC Fellowship”)
The Advanced Fellowship Program in Mental Health Research and Treatment at the CMC VA Medical Center (Philadelphia) is post-doctoral research training program with a Psychology track that is set with the Mental Illness Research and Clinical Center (MIRECC) of VISN 4. The primary goal of the program is to prepare Fellows for independent careers in VA conducting clinical research in mental health. It is a component of the national Advanced Fellowship facilitated by the hub site at VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Over the two years of the program, research and educational activities comprise 75% of the Fellowship training, with 25% of the time in the Fellowship devoted to direct, supervised patient care to accrue hours toward licensure. As a research Fellowship it is not considered an accredited clinical residency by the Committee on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association. Successful candidates have a track record of published research in their graduate training years and often have projects in process in their area of interest. Fellows receive additional training and mentoring in research design, and writing manuscripts and grants. More information about the program and a summary of faculty mentors can be found here https://www.mirecc.va.gov/visn4/Education/fellowship3.asp.
