Psychology Externship Program
The CVAMC Psychology Externship Program is a rich and dynamic training experience that offers a marked breadth of training opportunities and a diverse patient population. We offer over 12 placement slots throughout the facility with new experiences added yearly. The practicum training will take place over a complete academic year beginning in the summer. We expect most of our practicum students to pursue their clinical training at the CVAMC two days a week, for a total of 16 hours per week, unless otherwise specified. Please find information on program requirements and the application process in the program brochure. Our application process is currently aligned with the standard process of local training sites in the Tri-State area under the PENDELDOT organization.
Potential practicum students must be U.S citizens, be in the 3rd year of an APA accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology at the start of the placement, have earned a Master’s level degree in psychology by the start of the placement, completed at least one practicum prior to the start date, and have at least nine months of clinical practicum experience with an adult population.
