Greetings from the Director

Welcome to the inaugural issue of "MY VA Philadelphia" a publication for all Veterans who use the Crescenz VA Medical Center and its outpatient Clinics. On these pages you will read about what is happening at the CMCVAMC.

This past year, 2016, was a breakout year. We cared for 56,511 unique Veterans, and completed 590,168 outpatient visits, 179,100 clinical consults, and cared for 5,486 inpatients. Our schedulers scheduled 677,294 appointments. Our call center handled more calls than ever before and significantly reduced response times and abandonment rates, and because of the care we provided 516 Veterans have been cured of Hepatitis-C.

In June we dedicated a new outpatient clinic in Marlton, Burlington County, NJ, replacing the smaller, outdated space at Ft. Dix, with a larger, modern clinic which added additional services.

Construction is booming! We started and/or completed many construction projects including a new women’s health center, a new elevator to transport patients in privacy from the emergency department to the upper floors, a new cafeteria and retail store, a new parking garage, research building renovations, and much more. We purchased over $18 million of new or replacement equipment.

We have come a long way, and I know we still have work to do. In this issue you will see our 2017 monthly Town Hall schedule. I invite you to attend a town hall meeting, and welcome the opportunity to talk and to listen to you.

We are looking forward to another exciting year, full of continued improvement, increased access, and positive energy.
