Breathe EASY…Crescenz VAMC is becoming SMOKE FREE

Friday, October 7, 2016

For the health and safety of patients, visitors, staff, and the community, effective November 1, 2016, Crescenz VA Medical Center will become a smoke-free environment.  As a health care organization, we are committed to improving the health and well-being of all on our campus.

In accordance with VA policy, smoking will be permitted ONLY in the two designated smoking areas on the campus—in the Smoke Shack on the grounds of the CLC, and in the current smoking area to the side of the entrance to Building 2.

Smoking WILL NOT be permitted near any entrances, in stairwells, in the garages, or anywhere on the grounds, other than the two designated areas.  The smoke shack outside the entrance to Building 1 (near the Doughboy) will be removed.

Inpatients will no longer be permitted to leave the units to smoke.

Need help quitting? Smoking cessation tools and assistance are available on an on-going basis for Veterans and staff.  Veterans should speak to their primary care provider, and staff should contact Occupational Health for assistance.

Anyone can call 1-800-QUIT-NOW.

VA Police will strictly enforce this policy. Violations will result in citations and fines.
